Pat Kozak, CSJ, is a member of the Design Team for Engaging Impasse: Circles of Contemplation and Dialogue®. In 2007 she joined the Institute as program staff. In this capacity she participates in strategic planning and the creation of additional programs and resources for the Institute as well as in the planning and enabling of the circle experiences.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Pat entered the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph in 1964. She has a Masters in Religious Studies from Saint Louis University and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Pacific School of Religion of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley.
Pat has taught high school theology and served in vocation and formation ministry. Her decision to study in Berkeley, CA, enabled her to spend 11 years in the East Bay area of California, where she worked as part-time pastoral associate and spiritual director, as well as facilitated discernment and selection processes for religious congregations. After returning to Cleveland, she served two terms in leadership for her Congregation.
With Janet Schaffran CDP, Pat co-authored More Than Words: Prayer and Ritual for Inclusive Communities and more recently was a contributor to the book, Crucible for Change: Engaging Impasse Through Communal Contemplation and Dialogue.
She continues to enjoy working with groups as facilitator, particularly in discernment processes. The role of ritual in faith development and communal transition and transformation is of special interest to Pat. Other activities that provide both joy and satisfaction include poetry, gardening and an occasional home repair project.
