 Mary Jo Klick is an original member of the Design Team for Engaging Impasse: Circles of Contemplation and Dialogue®. Mary Jo is Vice President for Operations of the Institute. From 2002-2008 she served as the administrative coordinator for the project, acting as liaison with the staff at River's Edge in Cleveland, OH, and assisting with fundraising. Since 2008 Mary Jo is a consultant to the project with a focus on development and communications.
Mary Jo is co-editor with Nancy Sylvester, IHM of Crucible for Change: Engaging Impasse through Communal Contemplation and Dialogue.
In recent years Mary Jo has been a fundraising and organizational consultant with non-profits in Washington, DC. In 2005 she completed her work with the United States Catholic Mission Association (USCMA) and the Catholic Mission Forum planning and co-coordinating Mission Congress 2005 held in Tucson, AZ in October, 2005 and Mission Congress 2000 held in Chicago, IL in September 2000. In 1998 and 1999, she coordinated the Solidaridad gatherings in Cleveland, OH and Dallas, TX for the Religious Taskforce on Central America and Mexico; and in 2001, the first National Gathering for Black Catholic Women in Charlotte, NC, for the National Black Sisters Conference (NBSC).
Mary Jo was on the staff of NETWORK, a National Catholic Social Justice Lobby, from 1983-1993, where she was a member of the Administrative Team and Development Coordinator. She also worked for several years in religious education.
Mary Jo holds a M.A. in Liberal Studies (Womens Studies/ Womens History) from Simmons College, Boston, Massachusetts, and a B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland. She has a special interest in the lives and spirituality of 18th century women in England, Ireland, and North America.
Her current reading and writing focuses on the role of imagination through art, science, and nature in the contemplative approach to the transformation of consciousness. See her article, Moment Alive with Beginning in the Seeing through the Impasse section.
Mary Jo enjoys reading and writing poetry, especially haiku, is an amateur clay sculptor, and finds contemplative space in the beauty of New Mexico and the culture and art of its tribal peoples. Her spiritual journey is leading her into the energy and spaciousness of the New Universe Story. Mary Jo enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren.
